A prospector of lost sounds - Mariusz Koluch (pronunciation: ['mariuʃ 'kɔlux]) mainly focuses on ethnic music of various nations, chiefly Asian ones. He performs songs inspired by folklore (Ravel, Ives, Szymanowski, Komitas), ethnic songs of various nations (Georgians, Armenians, Tuvans, Jews) and 20^th century avant-garde vocal pieces (Cage). He is also an enthusiast for untypically sounding Asian vocal techniques.

In period 1999-2001 he cooperated as a soloist with On the Castle Opera in Szczecin, in period 2003-2008 with Cracow Opera (The Rape of Lucretia - B. Britten, Pinocchio - V. Vortin). For a few years he was working under Dr. Krzysztof Szwajgier's direction on the projects associated with 20^th century musical avant-garde. When working on his own projects, he cooperated with eminent linguists from the Jagiellonian University: Prof. Andrzej Pisowicz (Armenian and Persian language), Dr. Przemysław Piekarski (Hindi and Yiddish languages), classicist Dr. Krzysztof Bielawski, deceased Dr. Marek Smurzyński and with eminent translator and erudite, an expert in the Far East cultures and religions Ireneusz Kania. Since 2003, together with Dr. Krzysztof Bielawski (Jagiellonian University), he has been carrying out research on the subject of Ancient Greece vocal pieces interpretation. In academic year 2004/2005 he was giving classes concerning the issue at the Jagiellonian University in Cracow - Faculty of Philology, Institute of Classical Studies. At the same time together with Dr. Bielawski he delivered a lecture entitled "Between Art And Science - Ancient Greek Music", which took place at The American Academy in Rome and was addressed to the professors of the American Academy and students of the Summer School of Classics. Mariusz Koluch is also the author of music inspired by Rumi's mystical poetry, contained on a book + cd set etitled "Qalb-ha. Rumi for voice", released by the publishing company "Homini" together with translation of Rumi's poetry "In a Flash of Words” made by Marek Smurzyński. Another manifestation of Mariusz Koluch's artistic activities is performing background music for silent movies ("Weary Death" directed by F. Lang, "Man with a Movie Camera" directed by D. Vertov (Vertof)). Mariusz Koluch is the author and performer of a dozen artistic projects joining musical, performative, plastic and cinematic elements.

In my quest I strive to be guided by the superior rule of permanent enrichment of my own personality by means of seeking inspiration and energy in art. In my works I strive to expand the field of my inner experiences by trying or even tasting the domains, which are far from my profession (film, plastic arts, stagecraft). Music is for me a vehicle transporting my feelings to places where probably I couldn't get other way. I want each visited and explored place to be exceptional spiritual and artistic surprise.
